Why are we called Leafcutter?

Hearing the story most people remember it. The Leafcutter ant carries 50 times its own weight and is one of the top 10 most powerful animals in the world.

We thought a top 10 most powerful animal sounded pretty good and we could also relate to the ant being a small start-up business.

We knew we could pack a punch by effectively growing success for businesses. Efficient and hardworking, we get the job done!


Managing Director & Founder

Claire is often out and about as the face of Leafcutter. With a rural upbringing, Claire is hardworking, driven, and has a 'can do' attitude. Claire has a Bachelor of Physical Education and a Diploma in Small Business and Project Management. A member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand, Claire is a board member for Ignite Wanaka Chamber of Commerce and Vice President for New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance.


Human Resources & Recruitment

Funding & Grants

Bexs brings an ethical approach and is committed to helping businesses build and maintain positive workplace relationships. Bexs has a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Human Resources and a minor in Accounting. She brings ten years of experience working for companies such as Cardrona Alpine Resort, and Donovan Group in her HR advisory role. Bexs is a member of the Human Resources Institute of New Zealand.




Michelle is honest, practical, and a self-manager. A wizard with numbers, Michelle has an extensive background in accounts and office management. Michelle is Xero Advisor Certified, however, is diverse in her knowledge of various accounting software. Sit back and relax while Michelle takes the fuss out of finance. Certificated in Bookkeeping, Michelle is a member Institute of Certified New Zealand Bookkeepers (MYOB, Reckon, Quickbooks, & Xero).




Wendy is passionate about helping clients. With a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Marketing) plus a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), Wendy is an experienced marketer with a background in tourism. As part owner of a building company, Wendy brings a pragmatic approach to all things. A high achiever, digital savvy and results driven; Wendy will help you achieve your business objectives.




Alex is a word wizard and loves nothing better than enabling her clients tell their own unique stories. With a degree in Education & Psychology (BA hons) and 12 years’ experience in media and communications she’ll help you find the right words, the right tone and the right platform to deliver your key messages. Working as the press attaché to the New Zealand Winter Olympic team, she has proven experience at delivery high quality content, on time and under pressure, all while enjoying the fun!​




Kylie is our 'preferred' and qualified chartered accountant with eight years experience. Specialising in tax planning and business startups, Kylie has a Bachelor of Commerce major in accounting and a minor in economics.​

Ash is highly organised, creative, and detail orientated. With an extensive background in administration, operations, and programme management, Ash likes to get stuff done. Bubbly and easy to get along with, Ash will complete your to-do list and so much more. Producing quality work with a fast turn around, put simply, Ash is an angel sent from heaven.

Efficiency runs in Paula’s blood and her middle name should be organised. Paula encompasses an abundance of experience in streamlining business administration tasks, creating systems and processes, and delivering operational performance. Paula is currently studying towards a B.A. majoring in Business Psychology. She is a pro at appointment and reservations systems and has an eye for the bigger picture, better solutions, and the bottom line.



Health & Safety

Scott has excellent communication skills and an eye for detail. With a Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety Management, Scott has 12 years of experience in this sector. Using the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 as a guiding document, Scott will develop a system specifically for your operation. Scott has worked with a wide range of sectors including agriculture, commercial, building, avaition, and tourism. He will bring a fresh approach to your operation and its Health & Safety.
